we humbly invite you to the 11th Summer Film Seminar 4 zivly that will take place on august 6 – 9, 2009 in Banska Stiavnica, Slovakia.
this year’s theme is Night.
A period from dusk till down is in cinematopraphy the most visual, magic and the most suitable time for observation of various (ab)normal human features and behaviour. Night films ideally depict authentic, romantic or unpredicted furor brevis. Night is a time for revelation, understanding or on the contrary, failure, weakness and alienation. History, world or personal, may happen during the night. Night and darkness are often part of a director’s personal style or inevitable for storytelling and the ambiance of film noir. Some genres and vampires exist only in the night.
Join us in discovering darkness, romance and fear through 16 night feature films, saturday night fever and other night events. Beside the dark program we offer you discovery of Central European short films in the section Make it short!
Make it short!
Make it short! presents the best of short films that were produced in Visegrad countries in recent years. Each country will be represented by one hour of films encompassing different genres but able to communicate their message in few minutes. Presentation of V4 short films will be accompanied by the discussion about short films distribution channels varying from festivals, cinemas, TV to Internet. The discussion will not only present interesting film events in Visegrad region but also the ways how to submit films for them and what criteria organizers have when selecting films. Moreover, Internet as the distribution channel that gives opportunity to present films to professional and non-professional filmmakers will not be omitted.
The Czech republic will be represented by Andrea Slovakova form International Documentary Film Festival, Hungary by Tamas Gabeli from BuSho Film Festival, Poland by Jadwiga Glowa from Krakow Film Festival and finally Slovakia by Filip Kubis from AZYL Festival.
